ACHRI’s mission is to improve children’s health, development and well-being through high-quality research, which aligns directly with the purpose and mission of the National Children’s Study: To improve the health and well-being of children and contribute to understanding the role various factors have on health and disease.
- There are 105 Study locations in 43 states throughout the country.
- Benton County is the only location in Arkansas selected to participate.
- More than 100,000 children will be followed from before birth through age 21.
- The Study will examine how genetics and the environment interact to affect health and well-being.
- Findings from the Study will be made available as the research progresses, making potential benefits known to the public as early as possible.
- The goal of the Study is to help determine root causes of children’s health problems; identify new treatments and interventions for people affected by illness and disease; and develop evidence-based prevention strategies, health and safety guidelines, and future research.
