A Page from Our Book
At the Gravette Public Library

by Vivian J Lamb

NOVEMBER 17, 2004.... Did you check out our website, www.gravettelibrary.com? If so, you've already seen our list of Holiday Closings, since that really is the only thing we have on there so far. But for the convenience of everyone, I am listing the closings below:

November: Thanksgiving Day and the weekend - 11/25, 11/26, 11/27. December: Christmas weekend - 12/24, 12/25, & 12/27. New Year's Day - 12/31.

Please remember we have a bookdrop through the door that faces Charlotte Street. Just walk up on the deck and drop your materials through the slot. Fines are not charged for days we are closed.

One of our goals for 2005 is to provide more services to the elderly, handicapped and visually impaired in the community. We have books in Large Print, and also books on audio tape cassettes, and some on compact discs (CDs). We are happy to take telephone requests for a batch of books or audio tapes for persons in the above categories, and we can offer a delivery and pick-up services for the homebound.

The Arkansas State Library offers services to the Handicapped and Blind. They will loan a cassette player, and audio books to those people who apply for their service. Where can you get an application for the State Library services? The Gravette Library has the forms, and our staff is always happy to assist any individual in completing the State Library application form.

We have a pretty good selection of audio books at the Gravette Library, but many of our patrons who prefer books on tape, are looking for new titles. Do you have any books on tape or CD that you are willing to give to the library? We offer you a receipt you can use to document your donation for income tax purposes. So any gift you make by the end of 2004 will benefit the library, and possibly benefit you with an offset of income tax.

Library personnel are Vivian Lamb and Dawn Smith, and we can be reached at 479 787-6955.
