Summer Reading Program

August 16, 2006What a wonderful summer we have had this year with “Paws, Claws, Scales, and Tales”. We had some wonderful visitors come and talk to us at the library. We had the Bella Vista Shelter come and explain to us how to adopt a pet. We had Dr Harris from the Country View Animal Clinic come and talk to us on how to take care of our pets. We have also had “Tangles the Magician” to entertain us. We had the Benton County Sheriff’s Department bring one of their drug dogs to visit. The local 4-H Clubs provided a petting zoo for the children. We had Lynn Scrumbato bring her wild birds to visit. We have had Jose Aviles from Fayetteville bring his zebra and his friend Rebecca bring her dancing Spanish Mustang. On the final week we had Steve Dunlap bring a collection of snakes.
During the Summer Reading Program, the children were able to earn tickets for attendance and also for books that they read. We kept those tickets in a fish tank and we drew names at the end of the summer party for lots of different prizes. Each child who attended the Summer Reading Program received a goody bag. We also had hot dogs, chips, and drinks to celebrate the end of the summer.
We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all of our sponsors for the Summer Reading Program. We would like to thank the Bank of Gravett, Arvest Bank, and also the Kiwanis’s. If your business would like to be a sponsor, please contact the Gravette Public Library at 479-787-6955 or stop by and visit at 407 Charlotte Street, SE, Gravette, Arkansas. Thanks again to everyone for a wonderful summer!
